FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Filmmakers Announce ‘Experimentally ILL: The Movie 5” Experimental Film Premiering at Coolidge Corner Theatre’s ‘Boston Open Screen’ Event February 13, 2023

(Boston, MA – January 20, 2023)

“Experimentally ILL” community TV series producers and award-winning video artists Michael P. O’Toole and Lawrence Hollie announce the fifth in a continuing series of bi-coastal productions of comedic, experimental short films. Their latest surreal video art, hilarious monologue and sketch compilation “Experimentally ILL: The Movie 5” will debut as part of the frequently sold out, long-running ‘Boston Open Screen’ monthly film showcase. It takes place at the famous Coolidge Corner Theatre, 290 Harvard Street, Brookline, MA at 7:00PM, February 13, 2023. Ten dollar tickets are available at http://Coolidge.org

In conjunction with their ongoing Cambridge Community Television series which ‘Machete’ star Danny Trejo calls his “favorite show,” the Experimentally ILL artist collective presents an avant-garde variety program for the big screen where the counter-culture bumps up against the pop culture. MTV’s ‘Liquid Television’ meets ‘Tim and Eric’ and ‘USA Night Flight’ in this audio-visual rabbit hole produced by long-time New England indie media makers Experimentally ILL/Manic Schematic. This is made possible with the resources of the nationally recognized CCTV: Cambridge Community Television and TV Santa Barbara.

In the tradition of their own Experimentally ILL indie film festival, which ran at The Coolidge Corner Theatre and Somerville Theatre annually for five years and was lauded in local press, join Alliance For Community Media award-winning “weird local artists” Michael P. O’Toole, D.L. Polonsky, and California’s Lawrence Hollie (fresh off his brief appearance in ‘Barbie’) on their latest production. Along with friends Quincy Brisco, Hartley Pleshaw, Caleb Huntington, John Hartman, the mysterious Goth Robot 2.0 and the rest of ‘The Experimentals,’ they present and appear in an eclectic outlet that mixes mind-bending video art, hysterical short subjects and surreal sketches. Dedicated to the soiree-ing spirit of late friend filmmaker/artist/poet/Harvard employee The Professor of Surrealism Mick Cusimano.

Additionally, building off Michael P. O’Toole’s earlier Experimentally ILL podcast (which continues concurrently via ExperimentallyILL.com, Apple Podcasts, Spotify and more), you’ll find some thought-provoking spoken word, boundary-pushing poetry, alternative event coverage and gonzo interviews with your favorite bohemian creatives, like Zombie-powered presidential candidate Vermin Supreme.

“Experimentally ILL rides again! A new month means a new movie packed with brain-breaking video art that’ll make you laugh and think! Come see us work out whimsey that’s fast becoming creative ammo for taking our shot on the film festival circuit this year!” says Experimentally LL co-founder Michael P. O’Toole.

Check out what David Wildman of The Boston Globe noted as “The underground cable access TV scene – bursting with edgy creativity!”

From New England to LA and beyond, outsider arts and entertainment abounds in this bi-coastal filmic tapestry for the silver screen.

Boston Open Screen is “Boston’s one and only open mic night for filmmakers” which takes place the second Tuesday of each month. It has hosted O’Toole, Hollie and frequent collaborator Allston, MA artist/filmmaker D.L. Polonsky’s previous Experimentally ILL shorts and other work consistently since February of ‘23.

‘Experimentally ILL: The Movie Series’ will continue  as part of Boston Open Screen at The Coolidge Corner Theatre through 2024.

‘Experimentally ILL: The TV Series’ is now playing on Cambridge Community Television’s Channel 8 Thursdays at 8PM and The Needham Channel’s Community Channel Sundays 8PM. Coming soon to other Massachusetts area community television channels with California to follow.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Video Artists Announce ‘Experimentally ILL: The Movie 3’ Experimental Short Film Premiering at Coolidge Corner Theatre’s ‘Boston Open Screen’ Event December 12, 2023

(Boston, MA – November 20th, 2023)

“Experimentally ILL” cable access TV series producers and award-winning video artists Michael P. O’Toole and Lawrence Hollie announce the third in a continuing series of bi-coastal productions of comedic, experimental short films. Their latest surreal video art, hilarious monologue and sketch compilation “Experimentally ILL: The Movie 3” will debut as part of the frequently sold out, long-running ‘Boston Open Screen’ monthly short film showcase. This takes place at the famous Coolidge Corner Theatre, 290 Harvard Street, Brookline, MA at 7:00PM, December 12, 2023. Ten dollar tickets are available at http://Coolidge.org

“I’ve worked with innovative producer Lawrence Hollie and eccentric artist D.L. Polonsky for years on film festivals, short films and podcasts. After having our own separate  community TV shows like Random Acts and Solipsist’s Dispatch, doing Experimentally ILL as a TV show and now spun-off movie series is a return to form. We’ll show off new work of our own and curate cool video art and films from friends. The hip, friendly CCTV, who bolsters us to “make art, be heard,” is the perfect place to support this. All local underground art lovers should want to attend to see what’s next,” says Experimentally LL co-founder Michael P. O’Toole.
